Automobile Welding Manufacturing and Collaboration under Artificial Intelligence

It has been a long time for industrial robots to be officially put into use. Nearly half of the industrial robots put into use at this stage are used for welding. The application of industrial robots in the field of welding was first started from the automobile assembly line.

The requirements of automobile production line are becoming more and more strict, automobile manufacturers are constantly improving production efficiency and production quality, and the robots in the field of automobile manufacturing are constantly updated. With the development of workshop automation and artificial intelligence technology, welding robots are now widely used in the four major production processes of stamping, welding, painting and assembly in automobile manufacturing, but more welding robots are still the main ones.

In the entire automotive production line, the welding line is the most complex process, the highest degree of automation of a production line. The whole welding line includes spot welding, CO2 welding, stud welding, projection welding, pressing, gluing, adjustment and hemming, totaling 8 kinds of processes, with very tight process structure. The most widely used arc welder and spot welding robot.

The welding robot production line is generally composed of multiple welding robots, welding displacement machines, palletizing robots, teaching boxes, control panels, automatic wire feeding devices, welding power supplies and other parts. The cooperation between multiple welding robots to complete the welding process. Automatic and intelligent welding is realized in the whole production line, and the number of welds welded in each pass is relatively average, so the welding deformation of the whole product is small.

The car's white body welding and parts welding are done by robots. In the process of body welding, the flexible production mode of body assembly and welding is realized by using spot welding robot, and the mixed production of many varieties and few batches is realized. In the production of auto parts, a variety of welding processes are widely used. In terms of arc welding, the arc welding robot helps the robot to complete the work by setting the working route and moving speed in advance.

In a highly automated welding workshop, the collaboration between robots is also very important. Therefore, in the actual work process, there is an integrated system in which a number of robots are selected and organized to complete the task through cooperation and coordination, that is, multi-robot coordinated control technology. Before arranging a task for multiple systems, it is necessary to consider how to organize the equipment to work effectively according to the actual operation task. After determining the working mechanism, it is necessary to combine the actual work to maintain the consistency of the robot motion coordination in order to complete the tedious processing content of the automobile welding workshop.

For example, in the AITO car production plant, more than 300 FANUC robots work together to achieve a high degree of automation. Among them, the welding workshop of Selis Liangjiang Factory is equipped with 314 FANUC robots, with an automation rate of 100, and advanced laser remote flight welding technology is adopted. Compared with the traditional welding process, flight welding can realize rapid welding without contacting parts by increasing laser energy and adjusting the assembly gap.

With the continuous development of the automobile manufacturing industry, welding robot technology is also constantly completing new breakthroughs. The completion of more and more intelligent automobile factories also makes the automobile manufacturing workshop more intelligent. In the highly collaborative and automated factories, welding robots are waiting for them.
